Welcome to the first post on my Apple In My Mind Blog. This blog is primarily for listeners of Apple In My Mind's internet radio station and for all those who want to talk about and maybe learn something about music that actually matters.
Have you ever had the feeling you were juggling 4 or 5 balls all at once and if you ever took your eyes off them for even a split-second they would come crashing down around you? Me, neither. Just testing you. Psyche!
Actually I have been feeling that way as I’ve been trying to get my website tweaked just right and my internet radio station on air and about a dozen other things done all at once. Who hasn’t wanted to play DJ and decide what music gets played? Now I have the chance to share some of the music I love with the world.
Music is a very powerful medium. Who hasn’t listened to some gut-wrenching lyrics like Poison’s Every Rose Has It’s Thorn and identified with them completely or listened to a song like Pat Benatar’s All Fired Up and felt a little better about life. I’ve told my friends on occasion that if 90% of today’s music would get flushed down the crapper no one would miss it. In the course of the next few months and maybe years I hope you’ll listen to my station and join me on this blog as we discuss that 10% that has meant something to us, music with heart and integrity that actually matters.
I thought I'd start off today with three songs from my playlist. Below are the lyrics to each song and the best youtube video I could find of the artist playing the song. Enjoy!
Bad Company Bad Company
Company
Always on the run
Destiny is the rising sun
Oh I was born 6-gun in my hand
Behind a gun I'll make my final stand
That's why they call me Bad company
And I can't deny
Bad company
Till the day I die
Till the day I die
Till the day I die
Rebel souls
Deserters we are called
Chose a gun and threw away the sun
Now these towns
They all know our name
6-gun sound is our claim to fame
I can hear them say Bad company
And I won't deny
Bad Bad company
Till the day I die
Till the day I die
Bad Bad company
I can't deny
Bad companyTill the day I die
And I say it'sBad company
Oh Yeah---Yeah
Bad company Till the day I die Oh Yeah
Tell me that you are not a thief
Oh But I am Bad Company
It's the way I play Dirty for dirty
Oh Somebody Double-crossed me
Double-cross Double-cross
Yeah We're Bad company
Kill in cold blood
The Who Dr. Jimmy
[Including John's theme, Is It Me?]
Laugh and say I'm green
I've seen things you'll never see.
Talk behind my back
But I'm off the beaten track.
I'll take on anyone Ain't scared of a bloody nose,
Drink till I drop down With one eye on my clothes.
What is it? I'll take it. Who is she? I'll rape it.
Got a bet there? I'll meet it. Getting High? You can't beat it.
Doctor Jimmy and mister Jim
When I'm pilled you don't notice him,
He only comes out when I drink my gin.
You say she's a virgin.
I'm gonna be the first in.
Her fellah's gonna kill me? Oh fucking will he.
I'm seeing double But don't miss me if you can.
There's gonna be trouble When she chooses her man.
What is it? [etc.]
Doctor Jimmy and mister Jim etc.
Is it me? For a moment
The stars are falling. The heat is rising The past is calling.
I'm going back soon Home to get that baboon.
Who cut up my eye, tore up my Levis.
I'm feeling restless Bring another score around
Maybe something stronger Could really hold me down
Rolling Stones Midnight Rambler
Did you hear about the midnight rambler Everybody got to go
Did you hear about the midnight rambler The one that shut the kitchen door
He don't give a hoot of warning Wrapped up in a black cat cloak
He don't go in the light of the morning He split the time the cock'rel crows
Talkin' about the midnight gambler The one you never seen before
Talkin' about the midnight gambler Did you see him jump the garden wall
Sighin' down the wind so sad Listen and you'll hear him moan
Talkin' about the midnight gambler Everybody got to go
Did you hear about the midnight rambler Well, honey, it's no rock 'n' roll show
Well, I'm talkin' about the midnight gambler Yeah, the one you never seen before(ad lib)
Well you heard about the Boston...It's not one of those
Well, talkin' 'bout the midnight...sh...The one that closed the bedroom door
I'm called the hit-and-run raper in anger The knife-sharpened tippie-toe...
Or just the shoot 'em dead, brainbell jangler You know, the one you never seen before
So if you ever meet the midnight rambler Coming down your marble hall
Well he's pouncing like proud black panther Well, you can say I, I told you so
Well, don't you listen for the midnight rambler Play it easy, as you go
I'm gonna smash down all your plate glass windows
Put a fist, put a fist through your steel-plated door
Did you hear about the midnight rambler He'll leave his footprints up and down your hall
And did you hear about the midnight gambler And did you see me make my midnight call
And if you ever catch the midnight rambler I'll steal your mistress from under your nose
I'll go easy with your cold fanged anger I'll stick my knife right down your throat, baby
And it hurts!
