Playlist Pt 3

Hello again from Apple In My Mind internet radio and thanks to everyone who has been listening and sending emails. Some changes are being made to the station's playlist (more songs mainly) and added commentary will begin in the coming weeks.

In this post I'd like to cover three more songs from the station's playlist. The first song is Tie Your Mother Down by Queen. This song is just full of teenage lust and bravado, isn't it? The second song is Working Class Hero originally written by John Lennon and performed here by Marianne Faithfull off the Broken English album. It takes awhile sometimes for the truths of this song to sink in but John Lennon had a way with the truth, didn't he? Just listen to Imagine. Yea, you know exactly what I'm talking about. The third song is Zombie by the Cranberries. Man, this is such a great song on so many levels. It has an incredible opening riff, goes from spare to chainsaw guitars, has a meaningful message, the vocals by Delores O'Riordan cut to the bone, and it has such energy it incites the crowd into a frenzy when performed live. Just three great songs.

Queen Tie Your Mother Down
Get your party gown and get your pigtail down
And get your heart beating baby
Got my timing right I got my act all tight
It's gotta be tonight, my little school babe
Your mama says you don't, and your daddy says you won't
And I'm boiling up inside, ain't no way I'm gonna lose out this time
Tie your mother down, tie your mother down
Lock your daddy out of doors, I don't need him nosing around
Tie your mother down, tie your mother down
Give me all your love tonight
You're such a dirty louse, go get out of my house
That's all I ever get from your...family ties,
in fact I don't think I ever heard A single little civil word from those guys
I don't give a light, I'm gonna make out all right
I've got a sweetheart hand, to put a stop to all that Sniping and grousing
Tie your mother down, tie your mother down
Take your little brother swimming With a brick (that's all right)
Tie your mother down, tie your mother down
Or you ain't no friend of mine
Your mama and your daddy, gonna plague me till I die
I can't understand it, because I'm a peace loving guy
Tie your mother down, tie your mother down
Get that big, big, big, big, big, big, daddy out the door
Tie your mother down yeah, Tie your mother down
Give me all your love tonight...all your love tonight

Marianne Faithfull Working Class Hero
As soon as your born they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
They hurt you at home and they hit you at school
They hate if you're clever and they despise a fool
Till you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules
A working class hero is something to beA working class hero is something to be
When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years
Then they expect you to pick a career
When you can't really function you're so full of fear
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV
And you think you're so clever and you're classless and free
But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
There's room at the top they are telling you still
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill
If you want to be like all the folks on the hill
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
If you want to be a hero, well just follow me
If you want to be a hero, well just follow me

Cranberries Zombie
Another head hangs lowly, Child is slowly taken.
And the violence caused such silence, Who are we mistaken?
But you see, it's not me, it's not my family.
In your head, in your head they are fighting,
With their tanks and their bombs, And their bombs and their guns.
In your head, in your head, they are crying...
In your head, in your head, Zombie, zombie, zombie, Hey, hey, hey.
What's in your head, In your head, Zombie, zombie, zombie?
Hey, hey, hey, hey, oh, dou, dou, dou, dou, dou...
Another mother's breakin', Heart is taking over.
When the vi'lence causes silence, We must be mistaken.
It's the same old theme since nineteen-sixteen.
In your head, in your head they're still fighting,
With their tanks and their bombs, And their bombs and their guns.
In your head, in your head, they are dying...
In your head, in your head, Zombie, zombie, zombie, Hey, hey, hey.
What's in your head, In your head, Zombie, zombie, zombie?
Hey, hey, hey, hey, oh, oh, oh, Oh, oh, oh, oh, hey, oh, ya, ya-a...
